The building contract that allows construction company Barr Ltd to start work on Colchester's 10,000 seater Community Stadium has been signed.

Specialist stadium builder Barr Ltd has undertaken a wide range of stadia projects all around the country.

These include Southampton Football Club, Northampton Rugby Football Club, Celtic Football Club, Fulham Football Club, Leyton Orient and Cheltenham football clubs as being a sample of in excess of 40 stadia constructed throughout the UK.

As well as being home to Colchester United Football Club the stadium will also house the Colchester United Community Sports Trust and offer other facilities ranging from a conference centre, to five a side pitches and flexible activity space for the whole community.

Cllr Brian Jarvis, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Regeneration, said: "In construction company Barr Ltd and project managers Drivers Jonas we have a fantastic team that will give Colchester a community stadium we can all be proud of.
