Go With The Flow
Plans for the U's new stadium continue to take shape, with the club participating in a lengthy meeting on Wednesday, regarding the Transport Management Plan at Cuckoo Farm.
The meeting, the latest in a series of get togethers regarding how fans will get to and from the new community facility in North Colchester, saw Chief Executive Marie Partner firstly meet the Transport Strategy Team at Layer Road.
Following the first meeting, Marie explained: "The discussions then continued at the Town Hall for a further three hours, where there was a cross section of representation.
"This included the Parish Councillors from Myland and Highwoods as well as those from the Severalls Industrial Park, Essex County Highways and the Ambulance service.
"The Ambulance service representatives were there for us to discuss how best to minimise congestion on matchdays and allow traffic to flow in the north of Colchester in order to prevent the service being held up in gaining access through to the hospital.
"In general, the meetings are working out how best to formulate access to and from the site for all fans and other users on a matchday and have been going on for some time now.
"We feel that we are 90% there and hopefully be able to report on a defined route in terms of access to the ground in the next couple of months."
