Colchester Community Stadium Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Clive Gilham as part-time chief executive.

The role of the chief executive will be to manage the interface between the stadium's direct stakeholders (principally Colchester Borough Council, Colchester United Football Club and Colchester United Community Sports Trust) as well as with the wider local community.

More specifically the chief executive is required to develop a business plan for the stadium and to establish and monitor key performance measures for the day to day operation of the stadium's activities - which will be the responsibility of the Football Club under its management contract to run the stadium.

Dave Murthwaite, Chair of the Stadium Board, said: "We are extremely fortunate to find someone of Clive's wide ranging financial and corporate experience to fill this role.

"Public ownership of the new community stadium means that a careful balance will need to be struck between its commercial operation and its community use."

Clive is a qualified chartered accountant who has spent over 25 years in industry, both as finance director and chief executive.

Clive's experience has covered a wide variety of industries and types of business, especially in the quoted PLC sector, and he has acquired considerable expertise in devising, implementing and monitoring business plans.

Clive currently has a portfolio of companies for whom he is providing part-time executive director duties.

Clive told the website: "I am really excited about becoming part of the team managing this important new community asset in north Colchester and I look forward to bringing my financial and business expertise to this new position.

"We all have a wonderful opportunity to create a venue with wide reaching appeal to the local and regional community."

The community stadium which will be home to Colchester United Football Club as well as providing a range of community activities and services is due to be completed for the start of the 2008/9 football season.
