U's boss Geraint Williams has spoken to another three players to inform them that they unfortunately will not be involved as the club prepares for life in League One next season.

Defenders Adam Virgo, Bela Balogh and Danny Granville haven't been offered contracts by Williams for the League One 2008/9 campaign.

Virgo and Balogh were both on long term loans so will be returning to their parent clubs, while Granville becomes a free agent after a year with the U's.

Aidan Davison is the fourth player to be leaving and will be retiring from playing after a long career spanning over twenty years.

His time at Layer Road saw him make 99 appearances in league and cup, playing a crucial role in guiding the U's into the second tier of English football for the first time in their history.

He has also played a key part in guiding Dean Gerken through to first team football.

With the four decisions made on Tuesday, that means that the U's have now parted company with nine players at the end of the campaign - although the two youth team players Fabian Quintyn and James Hammond have stepped up to replace last year's youth graduates Tom Devaux and Tom Webb.
