U's boss Geraint Williams has built a team in his own mould, according to Plymouth boss Ian Holloway.

The Argyle boss grew up with Geraint at Bristol Rovers and has not been surprised with how he has done with the U's.

He told the Plymouth Herald: "He was a totally different type to me. He was stocky and strong and some of his passing was quite exquisite, I have to say.

"I think his best football was at Ipswich. They love him up there.

"He went to Derby from Bristol Rovers and the story was they came to watch me and they bought him - and I don't blame them. He was more ready than me then.

"He was just a proper player and hardly ever gave the ball away."

Of Geraint's U's side, he said: "They reek of him. They are committed, up for it - all the things we were taught at Bristol Rovers.

"He has had problems where they have sold a lot of his good players but he has still kept going.

"To be fair, they have got some investors in there and they are paying Teddy Sheringham's wages, which is quite a thing to do.

"Again, that speaks volumes for George that he can manage someone like Teddy, who probably wants to be a manager himself."
