U's boss Geraint Williams confessed that he was disappointed with how his side gave up a two goal advantage to eventually lose to Watford.

The Hornets powered back into the match after a great start from the home team and the Layer Road manager was left flat by his side's defeat.

"It's disappointing because we felt that we started very brightly but we knew Watford would come back at us," he told the Colchester Gazette.

"We had to withstand that and we couldn't do it.

"If we had gone in 2-0 up at half-time we would have started the second half as favourites and it was a disappointing five-minute spell because it probably turned the game.

"But that's why Watford are where they are.

"We knew that it would be a very physical test but one or two times we didn't stand up to that and we were punished.

"We knew we had to be positive in the second half but we weren't quite able to do it."
