U's goalkeeper Dean Gerken is keen to stay with the U's and be a part of their new era, despite our relegation to League One.

The keeper has been linked with moves to West Ham, but insists that - like Kevin Lisbie and Dean Hammond - he is determined to play in the first game at Cuckoo Farm next season.

He told the Colchester Gazette: "I don't take any notice of anything that goes on until the end of the season.

"My job at the end of the day is at Colchester United and I 1have to do my job.

"Whatever goes on between the club and other clubs, I don't know anything about. Personally, I have not heard anything about it.

"We have a new stadium next year and I want to be the first goalie to play in that stadium. It is history that we will be making next year and I want to be a part of it."
