Twice named Young Player of the Year, Kem is the second longest serving member of the current squad, having originally signed from Charlton Athletic at the end of the 2000/1 campaign.
A bustling midfielder whose tenacity belies his stature, he has earned the right to be one of the first names on the team-sheet in the Championship.
Kem battled back from a serious ankle injury to be a key member of the team that got promoted to this level and is a popular player both amongst the squad and with the U's supporters.
His goal against Birmingham in January 2007 was his first for the club in almost three years.
