About The Community Sports Trust
"Our vision is to work in partnership with communities, continuing to develop an inclusive range of sporting, educational and social opportunities, improving the quality of life for individuals and neighbourhoods."
The Football in the Community project was established in 1993 and is now known as the "Colchester United Community Sports Trust".
The Trust was established in 1995 as "Football in the Community" before becoming an independent charitable organisation in October 2001.
Since then, the Trust has gone from strength to strength with great successes, phenomenal growth and diversification of the Trust's activities over the past 12 months.
Over thirty thousand young people across North and Central Essex now benefit every year from the sporting, education and social opportunities offered by the Colchester United Community Sports Trust.
We are now offering sporting, social and educational opportunities to children in football, basketball, netball, hockey, tennis and cricket with more activities still to come.
We have a hugely successful football programme catering for boys and girls of all ages and abilities together with a women's football team.
The basketball and netball programmes though still in their infancy now have a range of teams in operation with the CUCST basketball men's competing in the national league.
Our social and disability programme sees our coaches offering rare opportunities to children in the community who otherwise would not have had the chance to experience any sporting activities and we also now run a Holiday Club during half term and school holidays.
Due to the success of the Community Sports Trust there are a number of staff with a wide range of different responsibilities.
